A Field Guide to Hot Foil Stamping
Gold, silver, holographic and pigmented foils — what each achieves and where they belong on a luxury box.
Hot foil stamping applies metallic or pigmented film to paperboard under heat and pressure via a metal die. Gold and silver remain the workhorses of luxury; holographic foils suit beauty and youth-oriented brands; pigmented foils extend brand palettes into metallic territory. Combine with blind embossing for tactile depth, or with debossed backgrounds to isolate the mark.
